Sweetie Pie's murder plot, Welcome to Sweetie Pie's star James 'Tim' Norman
Sweetie Pie's murder plot, Welcome to Sweetie Pie's star James 'Tim' Norman.
A star of the show "Welcome to Sweetie Pie's" is facing charges in connection with the murder-for-hire killing of his 18-year-old nephew, according to court documents.
Tim Norman, 41, of Jackson, was charged by a federal complaint on Aug. 11, 2020. He was arrested Tuesday morning in Jackson and is being held at the Madison County Detention Center awaiting extradition to Missouri.
Norman was charged with conspiracy to use interstate commerce facilities in the commission of a murder-for-hire, resulting in death.
Andre Montgomery was shot to death in St. Louis in March 2016. Norman is accused of taking out a $450,000 insurance policy on Montgomery, of which he was the sole beneficiary. According to the complaint, Norman conspired with exotic dancer Terica Ellis, of Memphis, in the murder-for-hire plot that ended in Montgomery's death.
Federal investigators said Norman and Ellis used burner phones to contact each other. Investigators said Ellis' phone location information placed her in the area of the murder at the time Montgomery was shot. The records also show Ellis called Norman immediately following the fatal shooting, according to the indictment.
In the days after the murder, Ellis deposited more $9,000 in cash into various bank accounts, investigators said.
Ellis was also charged by complaint with conspiracy to use interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder-for-hire, resulting in death.
During a December 2016 episode of "Welcome to Sweetie Pie's," Norman and his mother are shown going to the scene where Montgomery was killed. They talked about how emotional the death was for them.
Norman has lived in Jackson for a couple of years since opening a Sweetie Pie's location in the capital city.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Section and FBI are investigating. It was not immediately known when Norman will be returned to St. Louis to face charges.
